All of us dream of one day being able to retire – to finally be able to relax and enjoy the lifestyle we worked so hard for. However, you'll need a significant amount of money to do it, which is where a lot of Americans begin to worry.

Especially in the early days of a business, it can be natural to want to handle as many day-to-day tasks yourself as possible – bookkeeping included. Sometimes, it's in an effort to save money. Often, entrepreneurs just feel like they're in a better position to handle everything themselves. Regardless, this situation does not seem to play out regularly.

There's an old saying that reminds us "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Whoever coined that phrase was talking about the world of small business accounting whether they realized it or not.

Even before your children can count, they already know something about money: it's what you have to give the ice cream man to get a cone, or put in the slot to ride the rocket ship at the grocery store. So, as soon as your children begin to handle money, start teaching them how to handle it wisely.
